MW Byrd

MW Byrd is the founder of the Caretaker Project, an initiative dedicated to preserving Appalachian burial traditions, folklore, and cultural memory across Kentucky & Tennessee. His work blends field research, oral history, and storytelling to document how communities understand death, the unseen, and the land itself. He also writes under the name “Byrd of Ill Omen,” exploring the deeper meanings behind myth, legend, and lived experience.
